More of Alexa Meade Increadeble Work

Meade masterfully mixed multiple disciples - paintings, performance, and photography and turned it into something the world had never seen. Coating her models with paint, she made her models become part of a living, breathing painting. In her words, "The photographic presentations create a tension between the smoothness of the physical photographs and the tactility of the painted installations captured within them, blurring the lines between what is depicted and depiction itself."

More of Alexa Meade

Alexa Meade thinks completely backwards. Most artists use acrylic paints to create portraits of people on canvas. But not Meade - she applies acrylic paints on her subjects and makes them appear to be a part of the painting!

Neptune’s Sister Optical Illusion

Looking at the landscape, you’ll see some deer, few stumps and whole lot of everything, but how many of you have actually noticed the lil’-o-hidden lady?

Hidden Lion Optical Illusion

The image is a work of Donald Rust, and its called “Hidden Lion”, if you stare long enough at the image below, a face of a lion should hit you in the face.

The Hidden Tiger Illusion

Here is an interesting spot the object painting, created by American wildlife artist Rusty Rust, that shows a huge Bengal Tiger standing in a bamboo forest. Fata Morgana Art Installation

This art installation is named Fata Morgana, and was set up by Ralph Helmick and Stuart Schechter in 2001 at Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This sculpture is a romantic pictorial exercise pushing a traditional painterly subject–the seascape–into three dimensions. As you can see, the central image is a cruise ship and its reflection. Over 16 000 cables are suspended from a framework attached to the ceiling. If you jump inside the article, you can see the sculpture up close, and you will notice that it is made of thousands of smaller sculptures.

Leopard Illusion

You will see below a leopard illusion, you’ll notice that it’s not some photo of an actual animal, rather a realistically painted picture, examine the picture more closely and you will see a woman's body.

Street Art Optical Illusion

A remarkable piece of street art, that appeared on the streets of Berlin. What you can see in this photo, is a creation by an unknown artist, who has created a subtle but effective lenticular image on the slats of a fence. Head-on it doesn’t look like much, but when you move yourself to the left (or right), an image of a face appears.

Hyper-Realistic Acrylic Body Painting - Alexa Meade

Most artists use acrylic paints to create portraits of people on canvas, while Alexa applied acrylic paints on her subjects, and made them appear to be part of a painting! Meade is an installation artist based in the Washington, DC area. Her innovative use of paint on the three dimensional surfaces of found objects, live models, and architectural spaces has been incorporated into a series of installations that create a perceptual shift in how we experience and interpret spatial relationships.

Incredible works by Alexa Meade her paintings were actually real life people, body-painted in such a way to look as an acrylic masterpiece. The illusion works best when you see the installation up-close.
